About Plugged-in
Plugged-in to Nonfiction and Plugged-in to Reading are literary instruction tools built in the classroom. They are the culmination of Dr. Janet Allen’s 35 years in education, 20 of them in her own classroom, and her extensive involvement as a researcher in adolescent literacy.
Plugged-in’s three-step instructional model provides for the gradual release of learning responsibility from teacher to student through an easy-to-follow set of lesson plans for guided reading as well as engaging small- group and individual student activities.
Ultimately, students gain confidence as they check comprehension with every book and practice skills required for success on today’s standardized tests and beyond. Unabridged audiobooks provide the support for student reading that makes program management exciting and engaging. Every lesson is clearly linked to widely accepted standards for reading and language arts so that teachers can easily track development of the skills and strategies their students need.
